Is it illegal to bait a hole using deer scraps? I have been doing this for a couple months. Im not using guts or the hide, just the left overs from making sausage or jerky.

I don't know how you would use a scrape but maybe a few good rubs as a brushpile....?

I think he ment scraps and I am not sure. Don't see why you can't but there are other thinks I don't see why you can't do it. I told a GW once that if they kept making things illigal then I would not be able to catch a fish and he agreed.

I don't think it would be illegal but I also don't think it would bring in the cats you are looking for. I bet you woul dhave a great turtle whole though. I am not saying don't do it but I am not thinking you will get the results you are looking for.

I asked a game warden about something like this while cleaning ducks at Lake Tawakoni last month (December). I asked if I could use the duck gizzards, livers and hearts as catfish bait. I knew you couldn't use pieces of game fish but wanted to know about 'game'. He told me it was perfectly legal.

I know that is a little different then baiting a hole but, I would think, if it is legal to use deer liver, hearts, etc. for bait it would be legal to bait with it.

thanks for the info. I have been baiting a hole when I can. I posted some pics not to long ago of some great fish. The largest fish was 52# and was released.
