I'm married with two young ones. I also have a very understanding loving wife that knows how I feel about fishing. I can't remember the last time she got mad about me going. Somtimes I just need a break from it all and head to the lake which was usually about 2 or 3 times a month until gas prices became so outragous. Now its down to 1 or 2 times a month give or take a weekend.
Its your story, tell it how you want.

You are not kidding about gas price reducing fishing trips. I tried a little jig dipping yesterday at a big private lake from the dock and boat house. No luck and was told the owner had his boat in the lake a few days ago and charted all the fish in the deep water. I figured that, but I had to try while a bunch of other guys duck hunted. We had quite a gathering for the last day of the season. I didn't think the hunting was going to be good, so I fished instead. Nice day to be out.

it was 46 today on eagle mountain Doesn't matter if you're single or not, if you have a cool wife like mine. Yes, I get that "sudden urge" all the time. If I'm not having to work and my kids don't have any activities, just say I'm headed out to the slips for a few hours and she's cool with it. As for 46 degrees, hell, that's balmy my friend compared to when I've been out the last 3-4 times. Try about 28-33 deg F last few times I've been out. I'll take the 40s/50s anytime! Least my *!@##@ fingers won't become numb. Blauntley save my arse the last time, as did my fingertip-less gloves.

First thing I asked my wife when I met her is if she liked to fish. You know the answer I married her.
But if your less fortunate I have a friend that just annoys his wife until she tells him to leave and go fishing. (seems to work also.)

My wife doesn't like to go but doesn't mind if I do. Couldn't ask for a better wife.

LOL LipRippin'. Funny thing is, I tried the "date girls who like camping/fishing" thing years ago. Unfortunately, they ended up being head cases.
The girl I met in school, doesn't like fishing, but knows we each need our "self-time". That's where your second statement comes into play. If we're around each other too much for too long, that's where I use that pyschology and want her to want me to go.
Ok, my brain is scrambled now. Bottom line (and sure many on here feel the same way about their better halves), is God blessed me with a great partner in life, who doesn't hold back my needs.
Sounds like WorminAround and I have similar circumstances.
