Definitely harassing behavior and very rude. Y'all know we live in a great state right? If it really gets out of hand, then call the GW and he'll give them a nice ticket.

Here's the law and what constitutes harassment.

Texas § 62.0125. HARASSMENT OF HUNTERS, TRAPPERS, AND FISHERMEN. (a) This section may be cited as the Sportsman's Rights Act.
(b) In this section:
(1) "Wildlife" means all species of wild mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, or amphibians.
(2) "Process of hunting or catching" means any act directed at the lawful hunting or catching of wildlife, including camping or other acts preparatory to hunting or catching of wildlife that occur on land or water on which the affected person has the right or privilege of hunting or catching that wildlife.
(c) No person may intentionally interfere with another person lawfully engaged in the process of hunting or catching wildlife.
(d) No person may intentionally harass, drive, or disturb any wildlife for the purpose of disrupting a person lawfully engaged in the process of hunting or catching wildlife.
(e) No person may enter or remain on public land or enter or remain on private land without the landowner's or his agent's consent if the person intends to disrupt another person lawfully engaged in the process of hunting or catching wildlife.
(f) This section does not apply to a peace officer of this state, a law enforcement officer of the United States, a member of the armed forces of the United States or of this state, or employees of the department or other state or federal agencies having statutory responsibility to manage wildlife or land during the time that the officer, member, or employee is in the actual discharge of official duties.
(g) A person who violates this section commits an offense. An offense under this section is a Class B misdemeanor.
(h) It is an affirmative defense to prosecution that the defendant's conduct is protected by the right to freedom of speech under the constitution of this state or the United States.

Was he wearing thick glasses, or just a thick skull.....might of asked him if he realized you were fishing there and that would have not been rude on your part.
Yes it was a rude move on his part no doubt about it. Sometimes even knuckleheads can see the error of their ways when it is pointed out.......not very often but sometimes!

That was rude. Another thing I can't stand is when I'm tied up under a bridge and someone comes flying through there next to me and their wake slams my boat into the pilings. I saw a game warden pull someone over once for it but they can't be there every time.

Its your story, tell it how you want.

Amazing is all I can say. Like Duck and a few others, I've dealt with idiots like this through the years.

Depending on the circumstances, I have occasionally walked up or pulled up to someone with a boat, in courteous manner, to inform them of breaking fishing etiquette. I won't say what happend in a few instances, but let's just say that it made me feel better.

Now that I'm older, most times I let it go and move on, but still may let them know about the deed. Depends on my mood. Bad part of my personality I guess. I'm no hotshot, but do have my morals to follow and am a follower of God myself.

"Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for life."

You should have called him over and offered to teach him to fish for the low price of $59.99. Or really made an attempt to set him straight. Apparently, some people are just not born with common sense...ya know?

I usually enjoy it when people do that. Have had it happen several times. Most of the time I am catching fish. They pull up, I continue to pull fish, and they usually don't. I sometimes here them mumble under there breath, what's he doin that we ain't? I just tell them I'm catchin and you ain't. I have givin them the same color jigs I am using, crappie nibbles on occasion, and they still can't catch a fish.
When they pull up and I havn't caught anything, I tell them there right here! I done caught a limit, ya'll can have it. Then I go somewhere else. Some will sit there all day!LOL!

That's why I love fishing the upper end of Lake Belton...nearly always have it to myself. If I see 15 boats total (most days 5-10), it's a crowded day. I got cut off bass fishing once last year, but was in the lower end where more questionable anglers congregate. When he slowed his progression, we simply trolled faster around him...not a word was said and we both caught fish...irked yes, but nothing to get too upset over. The closest in crappie fishing came last year when a guy pulled up near me while fishing a tree that everyone and their dog fish. He stayed out 40 feet or so which was fine and I kept catching fish till he was tired of watching and left.

bygeorge, has anyone ever told you that you have a cruel streak in you?

I don't have any problem with someone slipping in quietly to join the fun when I slabbing up whites, especially if they ask first. I'll share depths, techniques, even lures with someone who's polite.

Then there are those others. You've got to laugh when they come barging but can't get a bite. At times 10 ft away can make all the difference. Most of that type can't stand it more than 10 or 12 fish before they give up and wander off muttering.

Happens all the time. I take it as a compliment that there are those that don't know how to fish so they follow those that do. Just my .02.

Keep on fishing.
