anyone know of a place around the dfw area (mainly Lewisville and surroundin cities) where I can pick up some soft plastic mold kits? I would like to start making my own but don't know where to get the stuff to do so...

If you want to go to an actuall store, Barlows is your best bet, but if online is ok, I belive del-mart was a better selection of molds

I got their latest catalog for that very purpose. Well, that and some lead molds for my sandie/hybrid habit. barlows has EVERYTHING you need.

THis is the best ay to make your own that I have heard of. These are instructions straight from Carl of ANglers Lodge:

Ok, here goes. Go to your hardware store or wally world and get you some fiberglass resin and hardener (Bondo is a good brand). Next, get you an aluminum pan used for food (the silver type that you can crumple up easily that you always see caterers use for food). Make sure it has a flat bottom, no fancy stuff on the bottom or it won't set right. Next, get some laminating paper. You are now ready to go. Take the bait you want to make and put it on the exposed laminating paper (expose the sticky side). This will take care of the gluing the bait and holding it in place. Make sure you are careful when placing the bait on it, because once you put it on there, it is a royal pain to get off and will most likely ruin the bait. Put multiple baits on there if you want to pour more than one at a time.Just make sure the baits are AWAY from the edge of the paper. Now place the paper/bait in the bottom of the pan. You are now ready to pour. Mix the fiberglass resin / hardener in a VERY WELL VENTILATED area. If not, it will practically burn your nose hairs out and you'll end up with a terrific headache at the least and maybe even in the hospital if ya don't. Don't do this in the house or your wife (personal experience haha) will shoot ya. Anyway, pour the mixed fiberglass resin SLOWLY over the bait so it covers it all the way. Now, set the pan on a FLAT LEVEL surface, preferably outside if weather permits to cure. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to set up. Just remember, when it is curing that pan will get hot as a firecracker and can easily burn your fingers, so leave it be until it cools. After it cools and sets up, you can pop it from the pan. Pull the baits out of the fiberglass and use a dremel tool to clean up the edges etc.. Now you are ready to go ! Once you see how easy it is to make, you will want to do more. And yes, you can make a two sided mold if you are that TALENTED. LMAO I have tried and failed miserably. When ya figure it out, call me and you can teach me ! I have seen it done, but no luck so far for me. Hope this helps.

How do you guys keep your plastic from bubbling when you heat and pour it. I have been trying to pour some worms all day in a one piece mold after I couldn't get a two piece to work and now I am close to what I want but I always get bubbles that form on the surface of the pour??
