Don't go. It's warmer in the house. Give it another 4 weeks or so. Bears hibernate. Why can't we?

I don't have all the answers, but I'm a quick learner!

If you are going to be in the shallow bays, I suggest...

wool socks
neoprene stockingfoot waders
couple of layers like under armor
good light waterproof jacket
neoprene gloves
head cover.

You should be fine!!!

Cold and wet is a killer combination so dress to fit conditions and keep spare dry coveralls in the truck just in case!

I may be around Rowlett creek Sunday afternoon with my son. We have not made any firm plans. We talked about taking the yaks or bank fishing; we are really just playing it by ear for now. We may just hit the crappie barge at dalrock and 30 instead so I can sit on my butt and relax indoors.
I have Tuesday off, too. Let me know If you are still planning Tuesday. It is much better for me than Sunday. I have to pick up kids after school so it wont be a late day for me.

I second my uncle's wetsuit idea. I have a cheaper one and its really nice and warm. When the air temps are above 60 I have to occasionally get wet to stay cool. Consider that 50 degree water can shock your body and lead to hypothermia. The water temps are 40 or so right now!

Hi everybody, new to the board here. I live in the DFW area and am wanting to pick up a sit on top kayak (maybe 2, 1 for wife) for local lake fishing. I can't really afford new. I've looked at craig's list several times, and they don't really have anything there - which surprises me. If anybody knows of used sit on tops for sale in the DFW area, please PM me.

Thanks.

Just a couple of things some folks have already touched on. Take a buddy, hypothermia can render you helpless and a buddy could be a major help. Now for the buddy...hey buddy, don't try to pick up your troubled partner in your kayak or there will be two to rescue. Help your buddy get warm.
Take a cell phone in a waterproof bag. Call emergency if anyone floats their hat.
