Many of you on TFF know who John Varner is and perhaps some of you don't. You may also know that John & I do quite a bit of fishing together and that we do very well. I have recently had people contact me inquiring about how & where to catch hybrids/sandies and other things of that nature. Though I try to help, I have to say, you are asking the wrong person. 10% of what I know about fishing some of the area lakes, I learned on my own and 10% is a stretch. The other 90% I learned from John Varner. If you are a casual angler and are looking to take some friends or family fishing or if you are a veteran angler looking to learn about the area lakes, do yourself a favor and book a trip with John. His website is http://www.jvguideservice.com/. John will not only put you on fish, he will teach you how to catch them and if you want to learn how to read a graph, no problem, he has it down to a science.

In all my years of fishing I've never been around someone who is a passionate and knowledgable about fishing, as John Varner and I want to say thanks John for being a great teacher and a great friend thumb

John has definitely gotten his fishing act together big time since I've known him. He knows what to look for on the depth finder and the seasonal patterns are really clicking with him. He has worked hard and diligently to get to this point and I would expect him to keep on achieving goals in his love for fishing. He gets more of a thrill out of watching others catch fish, more so than catching them himself and that is the mark of a great guide.

He's a great family man with an understanding wife and a great friend to many, many people. I consider his friendship most awesome, the best friend I could ever want!

Thanks for the thread, John (JV4) - you are spot on about the John Varner a lot of people know and respect.

Holly S _ _ T fellers settle down. I hope this cold weather clears up so Ya'll can get back to Fish'n! Nitro I will agree with Georgeeee a bit, But Varner can flat out angle! I fish with Varner a bit as well so here is JV's secret:

PURPLE BUZZ-BAITS; dont' forget the pink trailer

This is his lure of choice and never shows it to Ya'll @ BassPro! Hope to fish with JV this Friday if weather permits and i'm not @ the doctors! JV u are a G-M-F and are welcome on the SuperDuck anytime; as long as u bring the PURPLE BUZZ-BAITS, now everyone back to work!!!

Great post! I agree JV4 Nitro! My husband and I went to John's seminar last year about reading a graph and I lost my notes. John was more than happy to make sure my memory was accurate. Just from those experiences I can tell John Varner is genuine! smile
