Was in a tourney at Whitney one time and some stripers came up busting shad about 40 yards away. Couldn't resist throwing at them but a blue heron wanted a shad and my zara spook wrapped around his legs while he was flying. A kid in the boat next to me said, " Look Daddy." The told his son that I was a piece of $hit and they were leaving. Bird was flopping around and I felt awful but didn't mean to catch him. He finally spooled me and flew into a tree with 80 yards of line dangling from his legs.

Does snagging my wife in the ear count?

I would shoot beavers all the time when I lived in Alaska and then would throw a treb. hook out and snag them and reel them in. the biggest one I ever had to drag in was about 80#. You have to shoot them in the head or they will sink and that water is COLD!!!!

Muskrat Fly fishing in New Mexico, the guide wasn't too pleased about helping me get the hook out either, lol. He just scooped him up in the net and wrapped it a few times so he couldn't struggle. It was a barbless hook so it was easy to get out, as long as there wasn't any tension.

It wasn't my fault though, I wasn't trying to catch a Muskrat, hehe. I was casting my fly out there and the next thing I know this Muskrat swims up from underneath it, and it hooks him in the back.

I haven't caught anything unusual yet, but my nephews sure have. My oldest has caught a nutria rat. Another has caught a duck.

I caught a cow on my backcast with my fly rod while fishing a stock tank.. Needless to say I couldn't land it but it sure would have made some nice fillets...
