Here is one I built... got a top off a desk at work, used scrap 2x4's I had, cut lumber and painted then built...cost $0.00
It is 32" x 64"... plenty of room for 2 people to fillet and one to derib....put 5 gal buckets at each end and rake heads and guts in..... 100% water proof...
I have elect. over head so cords are not on the floor and in the way... when I get through I use the water hose and wash down table and concrete... done deal....

The advice that i have to offer is make your table about elbow high. You don't want to be bending over. We used a stainless steel top and made a faucet we can hook a water hose up to, but most of the time we just use the spray nozzle on the hose.

Another thing to consider is drainage. I got in trouble about tracking mud into the house, until I moved my table to a spot that drained the run-off away (the pee-gravel I put around the bottom where i stand helped as well).

I use the table top of an old wine rack/island combo. Add a hook to the sides for buckets and your good to go. Works well for me. I just set it up next to the faucet in the back yard and go to work.

OK, being the tight-wad that I am, I came up with a fish cleaning table that incorperates some stuff that I wanted in a table at a lower price than a good store bought one.

I went to Sam's and bought a 60 inch folding-leg table, the one with the white plastic top. Removed the top from the legs (remove 6 screws) and placed it on a pvc frame and screwed. I then built 2 inch pvc pipe legs with cross members for strength. I then installed a stainless steel salad sink that I bought at a garage sale at one end of the table. The hole that I cut for the sink was easy to cut useing a jigsaw with a wood-cutting blade. Just before installing the sink I filled the sink hole cavity (cavity between the top and the bottom of the table) with 'foam' in a can. This is to keep water out from between the surface and bottom of the table top. I also filled with foam any cavity I could find (mostly PVC) to keep mud-dabbers and wasp at bay.

The table in nice , the plastic surface is easly to keep clean with plenty of work space, and the whole thing being plastic I can hose it down with a garden hose. I keep a couple of plastic 5 gal bucket under ithe table , one to put fish in and the other to place remains in.

I never cut directly on the surface of the table, but use a telflon cutting board, however if I didn't have a cutting board the piece of the table I cut out for the sink would work nicely.

Sam's has several sizes of tables (I chose the 5ft surface) 5ft, 6ft, or 7ft. And a sink is not nessarary, but if you want one go to a trailer house salvage material store or a used building material outlet.

This is just my idea, and it works for me, I had my table for about two years now sitting on the deck of my boat house.

Call me a redneck but i use the wifes old ironing board. She doesn't use it so i do !! Good height, and easy cleaning folds up out of the way.

OK, you are a redneck, but I think that is just the right height. I use a stainless steel table from a closed Taco Bell. Added on to the legs to get it up to ironing board height!

The fillet factory at Cabelas is a great deal at $59.99 and I have a friend who's dad has it and loves it. It's funny that this thread got started today because just yesterday I was telling Martin Ping about this and saying that I thought I might be buying it myself.
