Cheapest is not always best. Do a search and there have been discussions on this with a lot of good info.

Take a look at Progressive. It's the cheapest and best I have found.

Don't cut corners in trying to save money. I just bought a used boat and made sure I was covered in all aspects. Get coverage that in case of a total loss the Ins. Company pays back what you paid for in the boat and not the value. Also, have a pretty good estimate on the cash value of the gear you put in your boat in case of theft.

I have Progressive and they are fairly easy to work with.

Texas Farm Bureau has the best all around insurance you can find plus insurance for your boat. Be sure and check it out.

I never understand why someone spends who knows how much on a boat, truck, or home and then wants the cheapest insurance they can find. Just like boats, trucks, and houses, they are not all the same....

Along with insuring the boat and all your gear, make sure your trailer has plenty of coverage as well. There have been several discussions on here about trailers being damaged beyond repair and not enough coverage to replace it.

SLewfoot, Its not about the cheapest insurance, its aboout bang for your buck. Right now I know I am paying way too much a year. And I am on a budget so pricing is very important to me.

I just switched to Progressive. They provide good affordable coverage. Now I just hope I don't get the shaft if I have a claim. I switched because my old company depreciated my boat but increased my rates because of the age of my boat. (didn't make any sense to me either).

I hope this dosen't come accross as a sales pitch but i thought i would jump in anyway. My name is Kevin Costlow (Previous user name 5fish.)

I am an independant agent (www.fishing4insurance.com). The truth is there are many good companies out there but some fall short when it comes to the little stuff like fishing Tackel, towing (on and off of the water), personal effects, electronics and so on. The biggest issue i see has to do with agreed value. Most companies will not state the "Value" upfront. Trying to prove your boat was in perfect condition after it is gone is nearly impossible. In other words get the value listed up front. Don't wait to have a claim. If you wait it could cost you more than just a few bucks...
