I got one of the new G_Loomis GLXs(the one with the titanium spring looking guides) last night and tried it out at the lake today. I used braid with a fluoro leaded(uni-uni knot) and the knot just didnt seem to go through the guides easily. I lost a large trap when the knot snagged and popped and had several other problems---just didnt seem to work well---anyone had this problem?

What brand of braid? I've got titanium guides on my Team Daiwa's (Heartland Z's) and have noticed some braids "feel" rough going through the guides as opposed to others.

The recoil guides are a Ti alloy and aren't really all that hard. I've heard horror stories of them grooving and other things. But the show stopper for me is how butt ugly they are...look like someone cut up an old screen door spring.

I'm using Power Pro with no worries, but then I'm soaking it down with KVD before I go out. It slickens it up a bit.

I don't have the same style guides. Mine are titanium, but double-footed like a normal guide, so that may be an advantage in my favor.

The Ti frames with SiC inserts are one of the hardest out there...my personal choice in a guide. The recoils don't have inserts and give up a bunch of hardness to be able to snap back into shape when bent.

I just wish GLoomis would part with those BCR blanks so custom builders could put them together right. Ti framed SiC guides, split grips, evo, no fore grip...

I have never had that problem before with any of my GLX's. Which model are you fishing with? I mostly use all braid or all floro. It sounds like you are trying to rip a trap out of the grass. Why not just go with all braid or straight floro?

I don't believe so jnp... GL keeps the BCR blanks to themselves AFAIK. They recently added a few GLX blanks to their product list for builders but I don't think BCR blanks are available.

I wasn't crazy about the recoil guides so I decided to build a G loomis MB783-GLX 6'6 with Fuji Gold Cermet Ti. Frame and split handle.

Hey, Joey. Nice wrapping work. Interested in building something for me?
