I'm looking to buy an inexpensive sonar unit for the bow of my boat, to mount with the transducer on my trolling motor. I'm looking at the Eagle FishEasy 245 and the Humminbird PiranhaMAX 220. I can get the Humminbird at a great discount because I work at a sporting goods store that carries it but I've heard the Eagle is the better way to on the more expensive units. What do you guys think?

This is for the bow, the 320 will go on my console when I can afford it. Right now I have to choose between these two, I'm sure thes side imaging stuff is nice too but I'm looking at these two units or someonething else in the $90 price range.

he doesn't want to hear all this 320..stuff..he wants to know which of those worthless finders should he buy .. I say the Piranah..
that will get him a 320 faster than anything else..

if you just need to know the depth and nothing else, an entry-level sonar like the ones you described will probably do the job, and probably not much difference between the two - so get whichever one is cheaper.

So what do most of you suggest two 320s, one on bow and one on console?

I would get two 320s or a 320 and an Eagle 480. The transducers are the same so you could move the head units between the bow and console based on your fishing.

Cabelas:

Eagle 320 $150
Eagle 480 $175

I just put an Eagle 480 on my boat and love it. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
