Make a paste of baking soda and water, rub on hands, especially around fingernails, rinse off with vinegar, then wash with soap and hot water.

been using baby wipes for a few years now and it always works for me. No strange stares from the public or anything. Figure it this way. If baby wipes can make a baby's butt smell good after one of the nastiest c raps you ever seen or smelled, then DK's ought to be a cinch. Either that or momma spit. Seems that kind of spit fixes anything too.

mix up some hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and a squirt of dawn dishwash soap in a bowl. soak your hands in it and scrub them together with the baking soda. this concoction will get rid of nearly any smell...including skunk! it has saved my marriage.

I use my fingers putting DK on the hook. It is the best way to get , maybe, two casts out of it.
At home, I wash my hands with Irish Spring two or three times...then take a toothbrush and scrub under the fingernails with the brush loaded up with Irish Spring for a while...then get a brush and load up some good smelling body soap and scrub my hands. Then I run a finger file under the nails to clean out anything else. Rinse...and smell... if not satisfactory, do it again. (never had to do it twice). Last, if available, rub around some gummy bears in your hands (turns women on, if you are in the mood).
It takes about 5 minutes, but it does the job...then I dream about getting smelly again!!!

Baby wipes. Use the scented kind. They work on baby's bottoms right? It'll work on DK's I speak from personal experience.
I don't trust a catfisherman who doesn't have shad scales on his hands or his reels...period.

This was brought up in the other DK post.Does any one have a sure fire way to remove the smell from your hands.I really dont have a problem with it,but my wife sure does.I really try to use a stick in the begining, but I just can't help forming it around the treble hook.I started using the medical gloves but after a while the fingers tear off. I wash my hands real well right after I get home, and the rub my hands with stainless steel and then wash up again. The stainless does help alot, but you can still smell, especially when we go out dancing that same night Any other suggestions. saw off arm..............

If your old lady has Victoria Secrets body scrub for rough dry skin (that is the one in tube) it works great. Only have to wash you hands one time.

The orange mechanics hand soap works well--plus the grit in the soap helps to remove the excess DK from fingernails ect.

My wife and I find the 'Baby Wipes' work quite well, when using while fishing with DK. I don't have a problem with the scented ones but some people do and the unscented ones work OK too. We also, several times during and always after fishing we use 'Germ-X Original Hand Sanitizer' waterless gell. The ethyl alcohol base soap and Moisturizing ingredients seem to have a good effect on the remaining smells on your hands, and it will also let you know if you have any nicks or cuts too.(ouch!)
The Germ-X is also great after cleaning fish too, removes fish smells from hands. (use Germ-X first, then wash with soap and water)
I find that keeping baby wipes in the boat and truck is just great! as they are good for alot of things such as spills (In my case soda and beer), great for cleaning bug poop, dirt, oily type stains on consol or dash, and also dribble's and splashes on shirts and pants. They have also kept me from catching colds and flues, or whatever by washing my hands after shopping at Wal-Mart, or eating out, and etc. JUST DON"T KNOW WHATS ON THEM DOORS OR WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TOUCH, AND IT CAN BE A LOT WORSE THAN DK.

I posed this same question to Danny King and he told me to use plain toothpaste - not the gel type. Rub into your fingers, leave it on for about a minute, rinse. I use this technique to get the smell of shad or catfish slime off as well. I usually wash with a good pumice soap like Lava and then use the toothpaste. Good luck.
