Anyone ever use one of these? I tried on a couple of the regular inflatable PFDs and they were not as comfy as I thought they would be.

I wear one of the auto inflate one's and sometimes i find I have it one while driving the turck and boat home.
BUT beware, most are not legal flotation devices unless they are worn. In other words if you have one on board but not on while your fishing you can get a ticket!

Whether or not these devices that fit around the waist are legal as a floatation device, I would want the best for me to be wearing in a long time life or death situation and that would be an auto inflatable that floats the body upright and supports the head. I have Parkinson's and a balance problem so wear it from the time I get into the boat till the time the boat goes back on the trailer. I have a Sospenders brand but others also sell them (Mustang, Stearns, etc.). My only problem is the navy blue color soaks up heat in the sun and my neck suffers in the summer. Good luck in what ever you pick but make sure it will support you safely for several hours in a bad situation.

Okie I agree with you. with the water temperature in the '40's hypothermia can set in very quick. it all comes down to the individuals choice for me and I try to stay safe as possible when on the water.
