Need some help on how to secure my gas cap on my 1996 Century 1850 Center Console. Some fine upstanding citizen seems to just help himself on removing the gas out of my boat. I leave it at a storage facility outside. It has a gate but my boat is parked next to a Farm-to-Market road with a barbed wire fence seperating it. The first two times my tank was lower than normal I thought I must have made a mistake on how much was in the tank when I parked it. The last time the lovely young man or(women)left the gas cap off. They have hit me forover 30 gallons in the past three months. The only silver lining in this is that they think they are getting regular gas but they are getting oil-gas mix.

Perko makes a locking fuel fill cap. here's the part number
1802300- this is the complete kit---38.35 (sugg. retail) 9901541- this is the cap only-----25.70 (sugg. retail)
that is kind of funny with the gas oil mix. just look around for a car that sputters, and smokes alot...LOL that's your culprit.

Hate to burst your buble, but running mix gas probably wont hurt whatever they put it in, I end up running mix gas in lots of things from time to time, including generator, lawn mower, a four stroke boat motor, and even my truck, it has never hurt any of them.

It would be a little trouble on your part, but disconnect the fuel hose from the tank inside the boat, put in a container of gas with about a 5# bag of sugar in it & let the low life, ill bred gutter sluts steal that gas from you! That'd break them from sucking eggs!!! LOL!! Just take the hose off the neck of the tank & put it on another can or portable 6 gallon tank somehow!LOL! That'd serve them right! I'm a mean spirited old B@$7@rd, ain't I? LOL!!! I HATE A THIEF!!!!!!

Yes, go with the Perko. These days it would be a wise investment for everyone. That will be the next step on the lake for thieves. Gas is going to be like Gold.

Try about 1 gallon of acetone to 4 gallons of gas. I promise you, you don't want to see the top of a piston after it's been scorched with acetone. Hey Parrish, I know who has an entire drum of acetone. If you ask, he might just donate a gallon to the cause!

I've heard all my life what sugar in a gas tank will do to an engine, it'll gum the thing up once that sugar gets hot in the combustion chamber, will it not?? I do like the acetone idea better that Mikey had!! That stuff is like nitro in a cylinder!! That aluminum alloy piston will be gone in 6o seconds!! LOL!!! DID I mention that I Hate a thief??

I can tell you first hand that sugar in a gas tank does cause alot of damange. Over the years I have seen quite a few issuses with sugar and gas. The sugar turns to maple surup, and gets sucked through the pump, pass the fuel filter, and right into the injectors. Thats were it usally stops, very costly.

All of the prankster things are well and good and so Disserving. to a petty thief. But, one thing to remember in our sue happy world is don't be suprised if the thief turn it around on you in a lawsuit and wins. I have seen some crazy ones that have been one, that you wouldn't think have a SNOWBALLS chance in HADES.

All you bad boys. Remember he doesn't want to kill his own boat in the process.
How about a game camera? Take a snapshot of the hooligan.
