I used them on one trip to Tawokani. I had good luck with them that weekend. Then again I caught fish on everything that weekend. Caught them on cut carp, live minnows, dead minnows, frozen shad, shrimp, chicken hears and even frogs that my son caught at the camp site.

When in doubt, set the hook.

I use chicken hearts for drift fishing in the warmer months. They work well. Most grocery stores have them either fresh or frozen. Frozen hearts work just as well as fresh.

I have not had much success in the cold water either drifting or still fishing with them. Liver or shad works much better in cold water on rod and reel.

They are also excellent on trotlines or jugs year round. They stay on the hook and retain blood for a long time.
