Was on Twin Buttes today and after a VERY slow day of fishing, I was checked by a Game Warden when I got to the ramp. I met him coming in and he turned and followed me to the ramp. He had a new boat and it didn't have it's markings yet. Nice fellow, I had all my papers so no problems. Was just surprised to see him out there. I fished Twin Buttes regular back '69-'85 and now been back since early '06. This was the FIRST time I have ever seen a Game Warden on Twin Buttes, much less checked.
Wish I was telling you about my first stringer over 40# or my first LMB over 10#.

Glad to see one out there. I lived in SA back in the mid 80's, when Buttes filled up the last time. The fishing was incredible for a few years after it filled. I remember the day a friend and I were fishing a T out there, when an older fella in an old flatbottom asked us what we had caught, and we replied with the typical 'not much'. When we asked him how he was doing, he said 'pretty good', and proceeded to pull up a fish basket that was almost totally full of 10-14" bass. Could have used a GW back then.

Joe---Saw lots of those back then. Seemed the limit was what you could carry. It always amazed me to never see a GW on the lake---even back then when there were lots of people on it. Today the warden said he was surprised when he pulled up and there were 5 boats at the ramp.

I grew up per poor and a big part of what we had to eat was game, fish and shrimp. In spite of the absolute necessity to have this for survival, my dad always taught me that I was never to catch or kill anything that I didn't plan to eat. Got my first BB gun and shot a chicken hawk. Guess who ate chicken hawk over a campfire? I do appreciate the job these guys do

Cajun---I agree, I wasn't complaining, just surprised after so many years/trips on this lake. And like joebass, seen lots of baskets of undersize bass taken. But then again, many of the Catch and Release people would help more if they would catch and keep some. Article in Bass Times last year said TPWD thought Catch & Release had gone so far that it was negative to many fisheries. We need to Catch & Take some, as long as we keep it legal. Let the scientist decide what we should do----that is as long as you eat and enjoy what you keep. Wife made a great Fish Chili tonight.
