I have never put much weight into JD Powers stuff...pretty sure whoever pays in the most will have the best "survey". Not busting up bass cat boats here just the JD Powers system.

I think that the survey needs to compare how many units are sold for each boat mfg.and what price range the boat is in. You can't compare a $50K boat to a $20K

I've owned three new Skeeter's. Each one has been and upgrade. What I complained about in one survey was basically better in the next model.

Compare apples to apples. These surveys don't do that.

Do you really honestly believe that BassCat would be the one with the deepest pockets of the boats on that list? If you answer that question with a yes you might put the pipe down wink JD Powers is not going to ever risk being biased to money or how would they get other companies to ever join?

It is true that not all boat companies pay for their boat owners to be surveyed. Up until the last 3 years BassCat had not paid to have their owner's surveyed and I might add they have won it every year since. That being said some of the smaller companies do not choose to participate because they don't want to as they are selling as many boats as they want or don't have the facilities to do more units.

There are some smaller companies out there that do provide great customer service and while we don't know how they stack up against the rest due to them not participating. Odds are though if they knew 100% that they would win it and they wanted to grow they would pay to play because whether ya'll believe it or not people do look at these surveys and it does affect some purchases. I was a skeptic at first but I have seen it first hand and heard the comments, it is a big deal and something BCB is proud of.

Tubby - this was started on another thread and so USA didn't hijack it he started this one. So he wasn't just starting the thread to thump on his chest...had you missed those other threads it does appear that way.

Judd, I think another factor that a lot guys don't realize, is how the JD Powers survey actually comes close the Insurance adjusters ratings of the boats, based on damage claims. Bass Cat Boats, for years, have had the fewest glass repair claims of any boat on the market. At least that is what my insurance adjuster, with Progressive Insurance, told me.

Once again I'm not putting any brand down. The reason I mention 1 a day is because that is their manufacturing capacity at this time, and they already have a back log of orders for the boat , so why spend money to advertise and build an even larger backlog? If sales and backlog decline then perhaps the money paid for a survey would be well spent.

I would never say that Basscat has the deepest pockets...you would think Ranger should have that one nailed down thumb

I just dont put much weight in these aftermarket surveys....I just purchased a new Dodge truck and right when I was driving it off the lot the salesman went over several questions that he said would be asked in the after purchase survey and he would be "very appreciative" if I would answer all questions as he rehearsed them.... noidea

So you don't put much weight in what the owners of their own boats have to say? I'm not sure that makes any sense.

The question of the boats left out is a valid one. For example - why would Genmar pay for Ranger and Stratos and then not include Champion? I say hats off to BassCat for paying to be included and then beating the likes of Genmar, Brunswick, and Tracker Marine. Those are the ones with the money, so it can be based on dollars. thumb

By the way - I run a Triton.

Jvon, In my opinion their customer service is unmatched. I was just listing some reasons why there is a high level of customer satisfaction among Bass Cat owners. This does not imply that other boat manufacturers have bad customer service or that you
would not be happy with your boat. There is enough quality out there to choose from. I would hope that everyone is happy with what they have.

I don't know how many boats were included in the survey. One can only rate those that were in. Of those boats the Bass Cat was rated first and they are widely known for their customer service and owner satisfaction.
That is as far as the claim can go. There are many boats that the owners are happy with, nobody including JD Powers claims to know or even imply that they do which boat is best.

We all know the Allison is the best built anyway.....
Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas

Basscat boats success I think comes from the fact that they do something probably better than many other boat companies out their and that is LISTEN TO THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! It is not a complex formula!!! They dont have an abundance of high paid excutives that have distanced themselves far from you the angler. BCB has remained their size and quite frankly, I would say prefer that way. They find their strength here, being at the grass root level, still attending boat shows where anyone can walk up to them or pick up the phone and just talk. Yes, things do go wrong once in awhile but it is not a painful exercise finding help when you need it.

Finally, I think BCB are very focused and dont try to be everything to everybody. I have personally seen debates on their forum where folks are wanting the owners to introduce fish and ski type boats. BCB will openly share market sales in the categories and thus justify to those asking why they cant afford to direct resources their. My point is they LISTENED and responded.

I think its great to see a family company do so well against the "large" corporations and maintain such credibility. Having "good" competition is great for improving the bass boat industry and helping anglers on the water. By having good competition, it creates the need for other companies to push for new ideas, and better technology.

Kudos to all companies that LISTEN or making a better effort to do so!

Peace and Merry Christmas!

OK...been watching this one for couple days now...time to weigh in...I once was a basscat owner, after 3 years of constantly having to get something repair/replaced and just being a disadisfied customer...This is why I own a Ranger today (3yrs+ now) and wouldn't think of ever owning anything else.....Unless something has changed in the last 4-5 five years, I'm finding it hard to swallow that the poll is a good one. I know of several owners who jumped ship....I guess anybody can change and to each his own....I'd be a hard sell to go back.....My .02

I will say that I have never owned a Basscat.... but after dealing with Rockwall Marine on my Yamaha repair... I wouldnt hesitate one bit to make my next boat a Basscat.... most the boats on the market are high performance and have very few differences.... I believe its the customer service during, and the service AFTER the sale that warrant a JD Powers award! NOt to mention the excellent service techs that can get the job fixed RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!!!
