For those of you with brands other than bass cat you should be happy with your boats and I'm glad you are. This survey isn't about what's a good boat or bad boat, it's about customer satisfaction and basscat owners are to a higher percentage happier about their boats than owners of other brands. Why? Because bass cat is still family owned not a corporation and they actually care how each and every owner feels about their boat and if not satisfied will bend over backwards and in some cases cost themselves money it shouldn't to make the consumer happy. Corporations don't do that because it affects the bottomline. Theirs alot of good quality boats out there but theirs only 1 family, The Bass Cat family.

Surveys can be biased and not random, so as a general rule I pay little to no attention to such surveys.
BassCat does make a solid boat and the Family ownership is a cool deal.
Problem with BassCat:
Lack of dealers in D/FW Metroplex.
Only two dealers round here that I know of is on in Rockwall and Waco.
Wished we would have dealer located in the Metroplex.

I was kind of indifferent, but a good buddy that gets on here as well bought a new basscat cougar last summer with a 225 Opti, and it is the smoothest ride I have ever been in. I really like it a lot. The thing that I like even better is that you can pick one of them up brand new for A LOT less than any of the major other brands.
That being said, I wouldn't complain to have a new one in any of them but if I was going to buy a new one, a Basscat would probably be what I'd buy because of Quality, Comparable Features, and Price.

In summary, what this says is simply that the folks that purchase their Basscat boats feel MUCH better about their bass boat overall (in every catagory) when compared to the results of those that decided to purchase the other brand. Nothing more, and nothing less.

Congrats to BassCat!
While I'm not a JD Powers disciple, I do own a '01 BassCat and have been beyond satisfied with their end product and service/support after the sale!
For a small company that produces fewer than 1,000 units a year, they certainly put quality, fishability, design, and customer service at the top of their company's Mission / Vision comittment.
That said, I'm certain most owners of Allison, Bullet, and a few other mfr's would rate their products / service similarly.
At the end of the day all that really matters is whether or not YOU, and not someone else, are happy with you're boat!

Can we assume that the original poster is a BassCat owner?

The full press release is an interesting read too, it notes that this is the 3rd year in a row Bass Cat has topped the survey. The good news for all bass boat owners is that this year there survey indicated the lowest number of customer complaints ever, indicating that all customers are more satisfied with their boats. So, they say the boating industry is listening to consumers and improving. http://www.jdpower.com/press-releases/pressrelease.aspx?id=2007026

After just going thru their factory and seeing the extra steps taken to provide the best possible boat, unmatched customer service, great dealers, and relationships developed you cant be anything other than very satisfied as a Bass Cat owner.

Before you say unmatched customer service ,you might talk to some Legend owners. As for your next question, JD Powers only surveys the boat companies that pay a considerable amount to be a part of the survey. I'm sure Basscat is a wonderful boat but Legend didnt participate because they manufacture 1 boat a day and have a 3 month backlog now( not saying it is a better boat than those surveyed). Once again not doubting the survey just be aware all companies do not participate. If you would like to check thier websit JDP is a marketing research company that offers thier services to a multitude of differnt type companies ,world wide, That is how they make their money doing market research for companies.

Paul - it is valid to those that participated. next , you will be saying it is not valid because batteries were not standardize across boat lines.....geeeezzz! some of you guys sponsored by these companies can be an incredible piece of work.

legends were not the only boat left out. I would put my 10 year old Gambler up against any new boat out there for fishing performance, handleing, and speed!!! My second choice would be Champion. Surveys are great but always have an agenda if you ask me.
