LOL look at the engine stat, so the Bass Cat used some other engine than the other 5 boats. thats rich, lol.
If you look at the bottom of the page it says. All tests and voting were done by monkeys.

haa! I was just about to comment on the engines too. I guess Bass Cat owners like Mercurys and Nitro owners don't. Sounds very scientific.

Argue all you want about the JD Powers survey, but the fact is each manufacturer are rated by the people who actually bought that brand of boat, so that alone will tell you a lot. Dosen't mean that a brand is not any good but it does say a lot that someone has spent that much money for a boat and is not completley happy with their purchase.
God Bless, Stephen

There is a similar to this thread on the BBC. Its actually a Z9 thread but the topic started going over to the JD Powers direction and here's my response..... "I am late to the party and I just read the JD Powers survey. I am not normally accused of being smart so if what I say doesn't make sense then don't pay attention to what I say................however The survey rates the motors on the boats in the survey. We know that ALL Nitros come with Mercury and allmost ALL Skeeters come with Yamaha outboards. The rest are a mix and match dependant on the owners preference...........SOOOOOOOO How come a Nitro which has a Mercury gets rated a 2 dot. A Skeeter which has a Yamaha gets a 4 dot. The Bass Cat which gets a mix and match gets better (5 dot) than either the 4 dot Skeeter with a Yamaha and much better than the 2 dot Nitro. When you look at their outboard motor ratings..... http://www.jdpower.com/boats/r...tingsyou find that those ratings are completely different than the ratings done when different owners rate those same motors. I find it would be hard for me to feel better or worse whatever the rating since you can pretty much tell that the rating is on how the owners feel about their boat. For all we know Bass Cat may just pass out more cookies and milk to get the ratings. It has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the quality of the boat."

The boats are ranked by their owners regardless of what motor is on it. Besides, it didnt matter what was on it they still rated their Nitro purchase as below par.

You guys crack me up. Do ya'll even know how this survey works? It is randomly sent out to people who have purchased the product with a series of questions. So I don't get to answer the questions on a different brand than what I have purchased. So to the people who say people won't make bad comments about things they purchase this disproves that theory or every manufacturer would have all 5 stars. Saying that, it has everything to do with the quality of the service combined with the quality of the boat and their accessories. I don't care what ya'll say if I bought a boat and it was a POS it wouldn't matter if they were giving cookies, Kool Aid or what I am not going to be happy and I am going to evaluate the boat and manufacturer accordingly. I won't get in to exact specifics but I will say that BCB sells a lot more Merc's than Rude's and Yamaha's combined. You just have the option to put any power plant on it you want. They also work very hard to win and keep this award, to the point that there are times they do things that they wouldn't and shouldn't normally take care of just to keep the customer happy. See all that with primarly factual comments without bad mouthing a single other competitor...ya'll should try that out sometime

Looks like Triton is second to BassCat. The JD Powers survey is for the most part unbiased, the survey only takes into account the owners of that particular brand of boat. Riding for a day or so in a particular brand of boat and owning the boat are two completely different animals. We are definitely satisfied with our Triton.

I think J.D. Power is based on first 90 days of ownership. I wonder if it would change after a year. The survey carries alot of weightwithin the mfg. side but I have never bought anything based on it. Yes the customers will make strikes against what they just bought. I work for a luxury auto mfg. company and we go hit once because the car did not let you know you left the sun roof open. It boils down to how the individual is satisfied with the purchase not which is better or worst. I know a guy that test drove a BASS CAT and did not like it. He bought a Triton. I know 2 guys that love thier Nitro's. I have yet to see a new boat that did not have to have something small fixed on it within a few months. I still love my 04' Ranger 521 and don't care what J.D. thanks about it.
