I just read a report on another forum where a member caught 9 sharks and a few bulls during a Port Mansfield trip.

Water temp is right around 65 there at the moment. Bulls and Sandbars will be around a little longer. SPI's temp is 70 so you may want to fish PINS.

For bait cownose and whiting would be my first choice. Just use a fish finder rig with offset and widened 18/0 circles.

Get yourself a good rigging needle. If you want a custom built big boy needle let me know I will hook you up with a guy who builds them.

Other than that good luck!

I catch a lot of small sharks in winter down in GA off the coast and from the fishing piers and rivers near the mouth of the sound. For baits i like live fish with the tails cut so they swim eratically, chunks of mullet or cut squid. You can also dye the squid with food color for more action. I use a bottom feeding rig and wire leaders should be as long as the shark you plan on catching.

I am building a web page on shark fishing because I can't actually do any shark fishing here in Iraq and it drives me crazy. You can see some pictures of rigging styles for shark fishing at www.sharkfighter.com
