I have a chance to buy a 1991 Sunbird Stingray 18'inboard boat. It has a 3.0 OMC 4 cyl motor. The asking price is $3500.00, i am taking it out this weekend for a test drive. This boat was kept in a boat house on a sling and is in very good shape. It is equipped with live well, storage, bilge pump, am,fm stereo. Will seat 6 to 7 people. Lower unit has new bearings in the drive shaft. Motor is very clean and cranked on first try. Do ya'll think this is a good price or should i get him to drop the price. The original asking was $4000.00 but he said he would take $3500.00, he needs money for a project. Thanks

General Answer:

Now until spring is a buyers market, hard to sell boats with winter around the corner. Beat him down as much as possible.

New boats are way way overpriced and have one of the biggest derpreciation as soon as it is sold to the first owner.

Don't be embarrased to get a great deal on the boat. He is the one who put it up for sale...

When it comes to used boats they are only worth what someone is willing to pay. Values are not set like auto's and there are more variables. If you think it is worth it buy it. However like Red Ranger said this time of year you should be able to find a great deal.
