For those of you that think the only time creeks hold good numbers of sandies is during the spring spawning run, you might wanna tap those brakes just a tad.

I am telling you that it is NOT too early right now, to check out a few of 'em! In my frequent forays, on foot, into the creek bottoms around the DFW area, in search of crappie, the delightful bonus has been the sandbass,AS IN MAGNUM SANDBASS!!!!

Some of the biggest sandies i have seen since the Elm Fork was flowing over the Dr Pepper dam back in June, are turning up regularly on stringers all over the area creeks!!!!!

They seem to have an affinity for curly tail grubs fished slowly over the bottom, on 1/8 th oz jigheads!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't believe me and don't want to bother to check it out, that's fine, and leaves more fish for us winter creek dwellers!!!

The most recent batches look like over inflated NFL footballs!!!!

3 days ago i saw nice stringers of em, and NOTHING SHORTER THAN 14 INCHES!!! In fact, i saw several in the 16-17 inch range!!!!!

Whoppers, all right. Wonder if they're migrants or year round creek dwellers?

Thanks for the intell.

Has anyone ever fished any of the creeks running into Texoma through Hagerman NWR? They look like good creeks to fish for sandies this time of year.

Rudy is right! Smaller creeks will hold whitebass earlier then the bigger rivers especially if the weather and rainfall mix just right.
