Hello everyone, I will be fishing Fork the 3rd week of March and would like to catch some blues. Are there many in this lake? What techniques would you recommend? I will be fishing for crappie the majority of the time but sure would like some blue cat filets. Last year I caught some on a trot line with hotdogs but no blues. The meat seemed to have a strange taste. Anyone else experience this? I would appreciate any light you could shed on this subject.HAPPY NEW YEAR ! Panfish Paladin

Good luck on that deal. There are some blues there but most of what you will catch is Channels. If I remember correctly, the only cats that have been stocked there were channels. Personally I can't taste the difference. I think some people might cut out the yellow part of the meat.

Never ate Fork fish but the blues and channels on Lewisville and Texoma taste pretty similar. I like the color and texture of the meat on the blues better though.
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!

it all depends on how you clean them, my favorite tasting cats have come from texoma and grapevine, so just read up on how to clean them better, a good rule of thumb is to clean them as fresh as you can, dont cut into the fat(yellow stuff), and do not let any blood get into the meat

I have fished several catfish tournaments on Fork and never seen a blue caught. If you want blue's hit Tawakoni. Its next door to Fork and is loaded with blues.

...there are plenty of large blue cats in Fork. Check out Gator's website... http://www.gatorsguideservice.com/I fished the "Catfish Splash" tournament last August. Over 700 fishermen and out of the 5,000+ catfish caught, not one blue. However, if the tournament would have been Dec - March you would have seen a ton of them. Good luck.

I am calling BS on Gator's bluecats coming out of Fork. Wonder why he doesnt go pick up a $1,000 from Sealy's Catfish Splash that he never fishes.

Blue cats were stocked in Lake Fork in 1987 according to the Tpwd.

Bee ready rod holders are the best on the market. Thats all I have on my boat. I have them on the front sides and back.

where do you get those bee ready rod holders? I am looking for rod holders for my boat so the kids don't have to hold their rods all day. Especially while drifting, or just sitting on a chum hole.
Any lead would be greatly appreciated.

Religion is a guy in church thinking about fishing. Relationship is a guy fishing thinking about God!

They must have got there stock mix up, because I have been cat fishing Fork for ten years with big fat zero on the blues.
