I have been doing well fishing the lighted docks at CC. Semms to be slowing some now. Is there a temp when the shad go deep and quit coming to the lights. Last trip was Wednesday a week ago and only caught 6 and much to my surprise an 18 pound buffalo on a 1/4 oz roadrunner on 6 pound test. ThougIt i was headed for the hybrid record till old bugle mouth gave up.

Thanks,

woodrow

I don't know, but I think you are on the right track about the shad.. The big fish follow the small ones!

they do not stop comimg to the dock lights until the shad stop coming to the light! DUUUUU that is what makes the fish come to the light! When the water gets cold they shad like to look for warmer water! Most shad will die if they stay in water colder than 45 degrees that is why the shad are easy to find in winter!

anyway hope it help! Hybrids like the cooler water just like a striper!

We used to catch hybrids all year long under lighted docks on my home lake in LA.

We'd catch a lot of largemouth and yellow bass as well (no white bass in this lake).

Woodrow, I live on CC and I think they're done til spring. My catch rate went to "zero" after that last cold front pushed the water tempt into the low 50s. If it's like last spring, they should start up again once the water temp hits 58-60.

Thanks JayDon,

Well it is gizzard flipping time now anyway. Just need a clam day and a hungry blue cat. Really enjoyed the hybrid fishing. the lake is really pretty at night and peaceful. Will be ready for another shot in the spring.
