After about two weeks of non-stop action and easy limits on Magnum Whites, it's changed a bit. My Son ran a trip yesterday and it was the first time in several years that he zeroed on Whites. His half day trip turned into an almost full day, and still he and three Guests managed one fish ...a Crappie. Adam knows the Lake as well as anyone who has ever fished it, and when he zeroes...they can't be caught.

Today we had both boats out and managed around 100 Whites and 4 Hybrids. This was with eight Fishermen. Another tough day, but not as tough as Monday. All on Slabs....I'd fish the Pelican Island area and if they aren't there...good luck. I checked several locations today and we caught all our fish off the Island.

There's been no topwater since October to speak of.

We don't have trips till Friday, but I'm going out tomorrow to try some different locations. The nice SE Breeze we had today turns back to the North tomorrow and will probably make fishing a bit tough in the Afternoon. Morning should be decent.

Good Luck!

Billit,

Anytime you see me around the Marina or on the Lake, say hello. I'm on the Lake six days a week in the Spring and much of the Summer/Fall. This time of the year , it's only two or three days a week.

I have several good friends and customers who live in September Sound....Bill Carlisle and Jim Sanders are two of them.

My Son lives on the Lake (Cape Estes) but I live in Whitehouse which is south of Tyler. I stay with him about half the year.

I always try and be courteous and helpful to folks on the Lake, but often am rushed when I'm conducting two trips a day. If I ever seem rushed this is the reason.

Good Luck and Good Fishin'

Oh yea...Bob Holmes is our best Guide friend on the Lake. We telephone each other almost every trip exchanging info as he, Adam and I always want to get our Customers on fish as quick as possible.

Hi Royce,

How was the wind today at RC? I decided to stay closer to home today and fished Palestine with my friend. The wind never got to bad over here. We sure didn't tear them up but did manage 9 nice sandies for the box and 1 nice hybrid that I released to fight another day. Took most of them on hellpets but did catch one school doing the surface dance for about 30 seconds. Found one large school that blacked out my screen but they were moving fast and were gone before we could get any slabs down.

Hope you had a good day.

Rick L.

Rick,

I didn't fish today. Wind was gusting over 20 in the Afternoon, but started to slow around sundown. We've got both boats out tomorrow with a 10 Person Party that fishes with us every Fall and Spring. Bunch of Arlington Police Officers that have do a Full Day with a Shore Lunch Fish Fry. We have a ball! smile

Good Fishin'!

Royce,

Hope you had a good weekend. We were on the fish when u pulled up at Pelican Island around 3-4 on Saturday. I assume that was you. We kept 20 MAGNUM sandies and had a 19.5 hybrid. Enough to make the grease smell good. Yea my dad knows Bill well. Hes a nice guy. We probably threw back 50-60. Have a great week.

Hey Billit, I am most interested in the 19.5 Hybrid....WOW, that is a giant fish. I have never seen one that big on this lake. Do you have pictures? Was he around Pelican?

Rick,

That would be a 19.5 inch Hybrid.

A 19.5 lb. Hybrid would be a new State Record. smile The lake record is 18.04 lbs. and was caught a couple of years ago.

I believe there may be one that big somewhere out there and hope it does come from RC!

Thanks Royce, man I was getting very excited. lol I guess my brain is calibrated in weight vs. length... I am still trying to catch a 10 pounder.
Have a nice Holiday,
Rick
