I just had a Lowrance 527i GPS installed and the GPS won't lock on. It shows a question mark over the "triangle" no matter how long I leave it on. Anyone had a similar issue with this? I haven't been able to find an answer in the manual. Thanks!

Is your boat sitting in the garage when you turned the unit on or were you out on the water when this happened?
Read pages 104 and 105 of the owners manual.
I think you must also have the NEMA 2000 power wires hooked up to 12 volts for the GPS to work.
Not real sure but you may want to call Lowrance on that for the iGPS.

Sounds like you don't have power to the reciever ( round white part). It has to have it's own power supply.

It has an internal antenna. I had the boat outside for about 30-45 minutes and it still would not lock on...just flashed. I don't have the NMEA 2000 wires hooked up though. I wasn't plan on using that at this point.

Go to the Satellite Status Page to see how many satellites your picking up when the boat is setting outside.
You have to have at least 3 to get a fix on your position.

1st thing make sure you are getting enough power. go to your status page and look to see what your voltage is? if not getting enough power thats your problem.
2nd make sure you dont have internal ant. turn off.
3. i dont think you have to power the nema power cords. but if you ran a ext. ant on your 527i you would have to power the net work cord or if you net-working anything to your unit.
by the way where do you live.

I'm getting 12v according to the screen.
I didn't know you could turn off the internal antenna. How would I check that?
I'm in Plano.
Thanks!

one more thing that unit needs to be setting almost straight up and down. you can tilt the unit little bit, but not much. if you are lay that unit horzital to the floor of you boat. it will not pick and good signal.

medic if he wasn't getting enough power the whole unit would shutdown on him after a few minutes. He lives in Plano in a neigbhorhood that has alot of 2 story houses around where he lives with a bunch of trees blocking the sky. The unit has gotta have a clear view of the sky. Another question? Is this an in-dash install? If so it will be erratic at best.

skeeterhawk made good point. if the unit is flush mounted the signal will be very weak. lowrance doesnt recomend any of the int. ant be flush mounted for that reason

also make sure you dont have a check mark for wass acquired. if so it will not lock on unless you can get that type of signal. if you uncheck mark that you will began pick up 2D or 3D and wass. your unit will alway look for wass signal automatic and lock on if there a signal even if not check, if not it goes to next best signal.

No, I have it mounted outside by the console. No WAAS was checked, but I could not find a check box for the internal antenna under GPS setup?
