I have a Minn Kota Rip Tide 74 lb thrust 24 volt trolling motor that I need to remove the prop from (got fishing line caught in prop). When I went to remove the prop it appears that removal requires a special tool? The prop turns independant of the center with the locking nut. I bought the boat used and have no manual for the trolling motor. Can anyone advise me as to how to remove the prop or where I might get a manual? The Minn Kota web site had no manuals listed that I could find.

TIA

If it's like mine, I just hold the prop with one hand to keep it from turning and loosen the nut with the other hand.

I have never seen one that requires a special tool to remove the prop.

the rip tide has a sacrificial anode built around the nut(this corrodes instead of the trolling motor corroding)the prop shaft has a screw driver slot machined in it. you should be able to put a screw driver in the slot and turn the anode with a pair of pliers. there should be a shear pin to keep the prop from spinning on the shaft. dont loose the pin.

Thanks Parker. I figured it out with your help. I did have to improvise some with a small C clamp because the pin had sheared allowing the prop to turn freely on the shaft.

Thanks again.
