I was at Lake Conroe today just to check on my boat and I spoke with several fishermen. I had an avid black bass fisherman tell me that the medium sized bass are really hitting now in the shallows of the coves. Catfishing seems to be fair on trotlines and jugline. Crappie are hard to find but when you do, they tend to be large.

Thanks for the report, divingcat. I'm gonna try to get out tomorrow if the weather co-operates. Dont know about this front coming through tonight or tomorrow.

Fishing was good in the grass at Little Lake on Sunday. Landed around 20 with one right at 5 lbs. Couldnt find a consistent pattern other than the grass though.

I'm a confessed newcomer. This might be a 1st grade question to a log of you. What effect will this cold snap have on catfish? Will they go to deep water, or head toward shallow water?

The bite seems to slow down a few days after the front passes for us.

Fished for an hour and a half this morning before heading to the office. Black bass bite was off, so we switched to white bass. We marked some pretty good numbers around 20 feet, but only managed one small one. As we left, there were a few gulls starting to work the water, but nothing materialized.

Went out yesterday about 10 in the morning and headed to Crouch Lake Levee and fished it for about 1 1/2 hours. Set several poles in the water for catfish baited with shrimp and then did some casting for black bass and white bass but came up skunked. We then went over to the first power lines and dropped our poles for catfish again and tried for some crappie but was skunked again. Didnt catch any fish but sure had a great day out on the lake. Fished most of the day in shorts and no shirt or shoes as it was that warm. Wished I could get out on the water again today.
