I just bought a golf cart and already had a problem, a battery post melted, not all the way, but about half way through. Is there any way to fix/repair it instead of buying a new battery? Thanks

I would suggest to replace the battery if you cannot secure the clamp or bolt on it properly. Next, make sure all your ground cables and connections are thoroughly cleaned to prevent arching which leads to burnt cables and battery post.

This is one thing a battery rebuilder used to do. He had a mold that clamped to the stub of the post and he heated his lead and poured onto the mold.

This is a health issue if you breath the fumes and also a batery produces hydrogen, the chemical that burned the Graf Zepplin and also has blown up countless work labs. A wrong move could cause injury or damage.

I Don't think a first timer should tackle it. Ask around -- may be someone is still doing repairs on battery posts.

Do you know the reason the post melted off? No use fixing the battery if it melts off again.

I'd get a new battery and make sure all the contacts are tight. Loose connections cause the kind of trouble you mentioned.
