Was just wondering about the safety factor in a less expensive jacket than Mustang ? Will probably wind up with one, but thought I'd see if there was another brand to consider, especially for flexability.

Thanks,
Nut

I went with Mustang and the hydrostatic. Will not inflate unless is is submerged, so in the rain or hit by a wave it will not inflate premature. I wear mine all day now. I think mine is the MD3183. I bought it from ebay. Just kept watching and they will pop up every now and then. Very comfortable.

Went to Academy today and saw this was on clearance for $69.99, but the cashier ring up only $49.99, so I got two.

How do you know if you have a faulty one.....when it's too late?? I guess that is one reason I havn't come off the $ to get one. I like wearing one that I already know works.

They have indicator on them. Green for good to go and red for replace CO2. Plus there's always manual blowing.

$50 is a heck of a deal.

Bought one as well but the CO2 was expired. Took it back.

Those who've seen my posts over the past year know that inflatable PFD's are near and dear to my heart. My suggestion: get a higher quality one from a name brand. They cost a bit more but they fit better and are less likely to inflate when you don't want them to and more likely to inflate when you do need them to. You'll wear the one that fits better and won't wonder, will this thing go off?

I like the SOSPenders Sentinel model. $200 +/-

Try to get a light color (if they make them). The only problem I have with my Sospenders is the navy blue color soaks up summertime heat and is hot on my neck.

Went down and picked up 2 of these today and also got 2 of the refills since they were marked down to $7.99. What a deal. Now if they will just work right!
