In my group of buddies, it's tradition that if someone's getting married we all go on a fishing trip the month or so before hand. So this coming May another one's biting the dust...

So I'm looking for what kind of fishing is gonna be best March/April/May. We don't have a big budget, last time we rented a pontoon on lake Fork and did some crappie/bass fishing. 5 guys or so total in the group, we all live in/around Fort Worth and don't want to drive too far as it's just a Fri-Sat trip...

Guided isn't out of the question, but will probably get out of our price range pretty quick.

What's biting then??

Thanks!

Dan,

Richland Chambers' White Bass & Hybrids are about as good as it gets in the Spring. Easy to catch, good to eat and lots of them. we're an hour and a half South of Dallas off I-45. If you're interested, give us a call. I'll give you a rate reduction to $80 per person if it's a 4 or 5 person Group. We can also arrange accomodations at a very reasonable rate if you want an overnite. Check us out at www.gonefishin.biz

Thanks!

Crappie will be spawning or going into post spawn patterns. Both are good times. The Sandbass (white bass) will be returning to the area lakes and they'll be starving! Hybrids will aslo be in good form around that time frame.
Lewisville, Ray Roberts, Hubbard or Lavon should all be close enough for you to sleep at home if you wish. If you want to be "out of the house" there are accomodations close to most of these lakes. Shouldn't be too hard to get your buddies on some good fishing for a couple of days.
I hope you and your buds have a great time smile

Dan,
You can't leave out catfishing in the Spring. Lake Lewisville has an excellent catfish population and is within a reasonable drive from any part of the metroplex. The shallow water bite can be fast and furious for both blues and channels. As for eating quality, you can't ask for much better. Take a look at my website and feel free to call or email if you have any questions.
