As many of you members here on TFF already know I have been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes.... more common in society than you think...
Anyway my wife is baking me Xmas cookies with Splenda (sugar substitute)

The problem is that the cookies do not taste the same as if baked with real sugar. If Splenda is supposed to be the same as sugar what gives?

Anybody out there have a Splenda cookie recipe?

I really have a sweet tooth but with T2D I can't enjoy baked goods....

Oh, and has anyone tried the "sugar-free" chocolate syrup? don't...

I think there is a special one for baking. I am also diabetic and you are just going to have to get use to the taste, if you want to live. It will not take long.

To me that sugar free chocolate syrup tastes like someone mixed chocolate with cheap whiskey.

Once you get used to the Splenda it's not so bad. Just don't use too much. It's stronger than you would think. I've been a Type II for about 20 years and so far have been able to stay off the needle. Better living through chemistry.
