I am going with a buddy who grew up fishing this lake. Have any of you fished this lake?

please be careful when you leave if your taking your boat. They have a growth of "killer algea" and it spreads to most other lakes via boats and trailers.

last time I was there, went to a spot called devil's elbow, should be on most lake maps, on the main bayou maybe a couple miles upstream of the state park. caught sandies till I was tired of reeling 'em in. mostly 14 to 16 inches. anchored on the downstream side of the bend, casting to a shelf in the middle. small pumpkinseed tube jig tipped with tiny crawfish (dead or alive)

Make sure you bring a camera. The scenery there will make you think you got lost in a time warp.

I would not waste my time on Sandbass on Caddo. If I was to fish that lake it would be for Crappie only. One of the best in Texas for sure.

Danny, I beg to differ about the SB fishing in Caddo. It can be excellent. I have caught LOTS of Whites out of that lake while fishing for crappie. In fact I think I've caught more whites than crappie. Probably its because I'm not a good crappie fisherman.

I love Caddo--especially this time of year. We've gone down there several times over the christmas holidays and caught sandies and crappie all day long. 2 inch curly tail grubs (white or chartruese) on a 1/8 or 1/4 oz head fished all up and down Big Cypress Bayou. We'd just go up and down the banks casting to stickups and boat docks and we'd catch 3 big sandies, followed by 1 or 2 nice crappie. I'd even catch 2 or 3 Pickerel every day, which sure kept things interesting. My daughters don't like to fish, they like to catch, and they had a blast out there. We probably caught and released 200 fish or more every day we were there last winter. You'll love it. Let us know how you do.
