Okay...I have a hummingbird 565 on the front of my boat, and it has two mounts, so I can put one on my dash and switch'em out etc. My dash flasher is pooped out, and I want my new one on my dash...so I can drive and see the bottom!
How do I install the transducer in hull, and where. I have a 1992 Champion if it matters. Any help will be appreciated.
My kit came with a way to mount it externally on the back of the transom, but I dont know about that.

You will have to pick a place toward the back in the bilge area. You will at least have to do some sanding and cleaning. I personally grind out a spot with a Dremel. When you have the spot ready be sure to clean it well. Take some 60 grit sandpaper and rought up the transducer face.
Mix up 2 part epoxy being careful to not get air bubbles in it and put it on the hole. Put the transducer on the epoxy and wiggle it around in the glue. Put some weight on it and go away.

I will try and give this a shot,,,,
First you are going to need a shoot thru hull puck,, Next remove the Batteries so you can get to the hull ,, Now find the most flattest part,, i put mine in the Valley between the stringers,,right in the middle next to the pumps,,, while you have access to the pumps make a trip to Casa depot,,pick up some screen wire ,,wrap it around the intake of the pumps will save money in long run,, Now take a Dremel and grind out a spot make it real smooth and clean around 3x3,, now mix your epoxy,,take a big scoop of it and form a small lake the about 3 inches around and 1/2 inch deep,,,take your puck and push it into the middle of the lake,,turn it about 1/2 turn so you try and make sure there is no air pocket under the puck,,,now place a piece if wood on top of the puck and put a weight on it,,,make sure you kept it flat,, Let it dry for at least 24 hours,,run your cable with a fish tape and go get them,,,

You can also glue down a skimmer as well as a puck.

I've got a question? Can you do the same thing to a aluninum bass boat? I know you can fiberglass but will it shoot through aluninum? Thanks

Thanks for the info. The instructions say to" temp install with a sandbag on top, then fill hull partially w/water, etc" I guess to make sure its in the right spot so you can move it around till just right, no interference etc. Do I need to do this? Anyone have experience with that?
I just want to be sure where to put it before I glue it down.

as long as you don't epoxy it over the in-hull plywood that your bilge pump is screwed to it should read just fine.

Putting some water inside the hull and putting the transducer in is a good way to test the placement of the transducer. Mounting it in the middle as far back on the running surface will give the best high speed returns. I would just put some water in the boat, a bucket full will do for sure. Take it to the lake and you can move the transducer along the bottom and make sure it gives a good picture on the screen. Sometimes you can find bad spots this way. Again mount the transducer far back and in the center of the boat and you are ok.

I 'temporarily' mounted my Lowrance skimmer with silicone in Oct of '06. It still works great.

Use a putty type epoxy such as PC7 (Home Depot) and you will not have air bubble problems. Also it has a much higher viscosity that the regular epoxies. PC7 is very similar to what Lowrance used to give you.
