I have a boat slip and was wondering how many crappie condos would be good to put in

I can answer that. None.

Fresh cedar works best of all. Condo's dont work very well in a dock. Contact me if you need help.

I catch a lot of crappie from the condos we placed. I do agree that cedar will be better. We catch bigger fish from the trees placed in other slips. I will be adding Christmas trees this year as well.

Thank You Ernest, for all that you do for this forum.

Earnest...I wish I has seen your answer a year ago....
I took a PVC condo and hung it 10' off the deck of a boat dock.
This year the fish it has produced compared to last year has been phenominal. It did take a while to get it going though.

I guess I better pull it up and put a sign up to let the crappie know it's not gonna work.

I will hand some CT's off it this year to bring in the bigger crops....if there are any bigger than 17" out there.

I did Crappie condo's in my slip. The catfish like them better than the crappie. Wish I would have done cedar trees. Hopefully this weekend Ill get some out there.

Yes, I know that the Condo's do produce some fish. I have six of them in my slip. Mine were 10' tall with nine of the bucket leaves on each. This morning I pulled them up and added 19 more leaves to each one. Should help.

We seem to catch more in the slips where we placed real trees.
Willows also work but the beavers steal them as fast as we put them in. They don't like cedar as much.

How deep is the water under the dock at normal pool? I have found that cedar or Christmas trees work equally well.
