I am going to be spending the next few weeks in Harlingen. I would love to catch a few reds/flounder/trout while I'm here. Are there any good wading spots or are there any good guides I could hire? I had to leave my boat in Ft. Worth.

as far as guides there is a couple out of Laguna vista "The Pettys" me and my wife booked them last year and we are going this year in december. they were awesome here is there website www.fishingwithpettys.com, now as far as wading spots i grew up in the area and we always went down to port mansfield about 40 min north of harlingen, im am now in military so dont fish there much. there is a park on the north side you can go wading at or you can go to south bay. Laguna Vista also has some good wading spots along the road to Port isabel. if you have any more questions just ask.

Here is great place! http://www.flyfishtx.com Call Ray, if he is busy have him give you Jaime's phone number. Both are very experienced in this area. Good Luck !

For wading at SPI there really aren't many options... but u may wanna try north of the convention center. The water is real shallow for about 100 yards into the bay then it gets around knee to thigh deep.

Try behind the Coast Guard station and near Pirates Landing in the morning.
