I haven't posted in a while because, quite honestly, I haven't gotten to fish in a while. Thanks to Jason, I'm finally back in the game.
Jason was kind enough to invite me to the slips Friday night for some Buff action. I spent 2 days getting my rigs ready, making bait/chum, etc. For a large portion of that time I sat and stared at my rods, just imagining. (I know some of you must have felt that anticipation too).
Friday night arrived and Jason and I had lines in the water about 7:30pm. He warned me that nobody had been in the slips in days and it might take a while to get the fish to come in.
Well, it was really slow Friday, and about 7 hrs later I called it quits, no buffs, no carp, a few small catfish. I was pretty bummed driving home. I wasn't sure if I would get to go again for a while.
Jason came through again the next day. Somehow he got us out of a house full of our kids and wives to fish for a few hours. Apparently all our feeding from the night before (that's all I can honestly call what I did)had finally paid off.
Jason hooked up within a few minutes. A good omen from the fishing Gods.
Before he got that line back in I had hooked up. As the fish flashed at the top the first time Jason looked my way and said "what's your PB?" I was thinking the same thing and sure enough:
(Right here would be a beautiful picture of my new PB 28lb Buffalo, If I could figure out how to insert a picture that is)
We continued catching buffs in the 15 lb range for the next couple of hours. Jason had something on his line that Just Would Not Give Up!!!!, but we never got to see what it was. It tore drag off the reel over and over again.
Eventually my wife called and told me I wanted to leave. (She is good at that)But not before I wrestled with the Toughest Buff I have ever caught. He fought like the devil, and he eventually weighed in at 23 lbs.
(There would be another great pic here; you can just imagine it can't you, if I knew anything about computers, you wouldn't have to imagine it)
My previous PB had been 19.5 lbs, so either of these would have been a new PB.
What a great experience! I'm hooked all over again.
A special thanks to Jason for his time and expertise! You're the best man.
If you feel like saving me one more time Jason, you could reply with the actual pics from the weekend. LOL. If not, well, you guys can imagine what they looked like.

Thanks guys. These fish are so incredible to catch. What always gets me is the anticipation of getting the first glimpse at the fish. These Buffalo can act so differently from each other. The 28lber didn't fight very much, but when he flashed on his side he seemed HUGE. The 23lbr fought so hard that I couldn't get him within view, and I kept trying to imagine "What do I have on there?"
The only fish that provide that anticipation for me in freshwater are the rough fish...Thanks for getting me hooked guys!
