Hi Everyone,
I am new to the forum and wanted to say hi before I began my post. I fish on Lake Conroe.
Got on the water around 10:30 yesterday and began fishing boat stalls in 14ft. of water. After one hour I had caught one small bass and a bream.
Moved on to brush piles in 23ft. of water with brush coming up to 14ft., normally produces some good crappie, after 2 hours I had caught one small crappie.
Moved to deep water stumps for 2 hours and caught nothing else.
I was fishing with crappie jigs the whole time and tried various colors, wind was around 5 mph, beautiful day.
I was above 1097 bridge the whole time.
I am trying to figure out the crappie patterns as well as what they are foraging on. I will keep posting and all suggestions are welcome.

Hey Jig on I, too, am a new comer to the forum and to fishing since I recently bought my first bass boat and fish Lake Conroe off and on. I live between Conroe and Navasota so I fish Gibbons Creek quite a bit in addition to Lake Conroe. I did fish Lake Conroe on the 12th above the 1097 bridge and had the same luck you had fishing stumps and the shoreline. I hope to get back out there either this weekend or the first of next week as soon as all the company leaves but I think I am gonna put in at April Plaza and fish all those stalls and piers all the way up to 1097 and see if that works. Keep the reports coming whenever you get out there.

I haven't fished Conroe in about 3 weeks now but, the river channel near the submerged train grade north on the 1097 bridge and the stubblefield area should be good by now or really close to it.
Think about fishing with us some time at the East Texas Crappie Club or the Bayou City Crappie Club.

heh same here i have been reading these forums for months and saw this post and decided to reply. We took the boat out saturday morning and launched from cagle. We fished for a few hours in diff spots ranging from 11-16 foot and never got a nibble. We moved a little south right before you get to calvery rd and caught a few on jigs and minnows in 18-24 foot of water.
I think we are going back out wednesday or friday trying to find some hotspots/brushpiles since im new to this lake.
I grew up fishing Bob Sandlin/Monticello/Cypress Springs/Lake o Pines and Fork so i am really a lost puppy down here. :P but i know there has to be some decent crappie in this lake..

Yes when the club fishes Lake Livingston we used to weigh in at Galloway's/Freedom Shores but, now it's not a public marina any longer so, we weigh in at a boat ramp or at the Risin' Sun Church parking lot. Then usually end up at the Trinity Cafe for a big ol' Chicken Fried Steak or Steam Table blowout and discuss club business and have some social time.
We still fish the same area of the lake in the Trinity/Riverside areas with most fishing in either White Rock Creek or a handful of others such as Caney, Carolina, Bethy, Harmon or Newton Creeks off the main river.
Houston Co. in Crockett and Lake Conroe are also on the tournament rotation for the E.T.C.C.
If you are from the Trinity area, you may know the tournament director for the club, Ron Conatser, preacherman for the Risin' Sun Cowboy Church of Trinity.
I am trying to get the club website updated and just have that simple website up until I get around to completing a better one.

Greg I used to hunt in Riverside for many, many years back in the 70's and 80's and your mention of that good old chicken fried steak in Trinity surely brought back a ton of memories since we would always eat supper there after a days hunt on the weekends. Thanks for the memories!
