A buddy of mine has a 18 foot tunnel hull alumacraft with 90hp and jackplate. The only flaw about this rig is that it doesn't turn very smootly. Kind of like it skips or glides wide, then catches. If you're not careful, you can throw someone out of the boat. Is there anyting you can do to help correct this problem, or is this just the nature of having a tunnel Hull? Thanks in advance.

I know what you mean, I bought a Blue Wave 189 Super T and found the same thing. This is a problem with tunnels I put a SE Sport 300 on it and have great control now.

Another product is the XL Whaletail. That will help tremendously//////

Thanks, we were considering either one, but wasn't certain if that would fix the help the problem. By any chance, do you lose any hole shot or top end speed? To lose a little top end speed doesn't bother him, but he's trying to keep the hole shot. Thanks Kben and Mike.

What you're really looking for is a compression plate, NOT a fin.

Fins described just pick up the rear of the boat, what you need with a tunnel for optimum performance is to compress the water out of the tunnel and force it to the prop.

Shallow blaster, hole shooter, Nedski, there's quite a few on the market.

Oh, and all tunnel hulls will suck for handling, it's the nature of the design.

What turns a typical outboard is the prop directed in the water, when you raise the prop above the water surface (in the tunnel) the response is at best poor.

CAvitation Plate is great and the best way to go I agree, How ever the 300SE did the control fix for me, if I start doing skinny water then I will go to the cavatation plate. It was a case of 60.00 vs 250.00

And the SE Sport does not loose any top end.
