Went out to Canyon this afternoon. The water has cooled another degree or two and is around 73. The fishing is still great right now. I couldn't get anything going with plastics but the crankbait is the ticket. Most of the fish caught were in 1-10 feet but we managed a few straglers in 40-50 feet. The size of fish caught has improved a lot in just one week. There were two of us fishing and we managed about 30 bass and 1 Smallie in 5 hours. We had 8 fish between 14-18 inches, 15 or so 12-14 inches and the rest were 9-12 inches. We started on the ledges and rock faces on the north side of the lake as the wind was coming from the south. Not much was happening so we went in a protected cove with calm water and bingo that was the ticket. They were hanging out just inside where the calm water and current met. It was very easy to spot these places and every one we tried produced fish. They are starting to move back into the coves and creek arms a little. We did however still cath probably half of the fish in the main lake. As usual if you have any questions about specifics send me a pm

We fished Canyon Saturday (11/03) and had basically the same results. We caught alot of fish and I caught at least 3 solid keepers. All my fish were caught on a chartreuse Bomber crank bait. We also caught a couple of smallmouths. Around 11:00am we had a fellow fisherman come up to us and ask if we had any cameras on board as he had a good fish he wanted to take some pictures of before he released it back in the same area he had caught the fish. From his livewell he brought out a largemouth that he said weight over 8.0 lbs. We took some photos and he then proceeded to show us a few of his brushpiles. Yesterday afternoon I also received an email from a friend that contained a picture of a 4 1/2 lb. smallmouth caught yesterday morning (11/05) at Canyon. The cold weather continues to improve the fishing.

I hope it improves it even more. I am planning on going Saturday morning. I guess the crankbait is the ticket right now. We will see.

I fished Friday and Saturday. The bite was not the same. I started out Friday up by the dam with crankbaits (these were the ticket the week before) and had no luck. I then fished the middle of the lake (another area that had produced the week before) with crankbaits and rattletraps and had no luck. The wind was puffing so worming was tough. I ended up catching 2 small fish over toward Cranes Mill Marina. Saturday a friend and I headed up river. Once again the wind was blowing 15+mph and the fishing was tough. I caught a keeper and 1 small fish on a rattletrap. Hopefully the cold weather will return and the bite will return.
