I fish Lake Arlington pretty regularly. I grew up in Arlington, and now live in Fort Worth.
The east side, the Arlington city parks and boat ramps, are pretty nice, and the neighborhoods surrounding the parks are relatively high-end.
The west side of the lake is horrible (Fort Worth side). Its a very bad neighborhood, with the type of people you'd expect of a rough 'hood. Lets just say that the people that hang out at that park are not there for the fishing or any other reputable activity.
A few hundred yards of water is like a wall between two entirely different worlds.

when the water was really low, you could walk across the lake. South of Willow Island. As long as you didn't sink in quicksand.
