Artie-for the seven years I owned the motor I put Ring Free, Stabil, and only Yamalube in monthly.(or as needed) Motor ran with absolutely no problems all 7 years but the day after I mixed the oil, is the day my problems started. It may not be a result from the oil mixing but at this point, it's all I have to go on. I ran it all over Texoma the day after mixing the oils and the boat ran great until the end of the day when the the knocking started. I will absolutely have Rockwall take a close look to find the real problem. And will take Bristow's advice to have EVERYTHING replaced, including the oil filter.

Mu gut feeling says if you had a lubrication problem you would be looking at 6 bad cylinders, not just one.

Won, that's not necessarily so. I'm sure Mike and Michael and Tommy and any other engine guy on here can give you many examples of that.

i disagree that you cant hone a old hole, as long as pistons meet the tolerances , do you suggest he bore all and go with oversize pistons, if yo got to go that far evertime you might as well get a new powerhead
