I know Southwestern Parts will do over the counter replacements on GLoomis if you bought the rod from them (otherwise it has to be shipped), but is there any places in the Metroplex that will do a over the counter replacement on GLoomis if you did not buy the rod there? Any info provided is appreciated in advance.

I don't know of anyone else doing that. Shane does that as a courtesy to his customers. He still has to ship the rod back and wait on a new replacement one.

Sportsman's Warehouse in Lewisville will do it. Ask for John. He'll take care of you.

I shipped a G Loomis rod back to them and in 3 days had a replacement. 50.00 total cost. I put the old rod in the tube and put the mailing sticker on while the UPS man waited and he took it from there. Very easy. No hassel or questions. Very satisfied. Just go to there web site for details.

I have seen Paul at Southwest do it. But the guy was honest, and said he did not buy it from them, and asked if he would do it. Paul then scolded him about buying stuff at BPS, and what not.

Thanks folks, looks like Sportsmans Warehouse it is. I am aware of the $50 charge, but I did not include that fact in the original post, so thanks for the reminder. And when I called Southwest I was honest and admitted upfront that I did not buy the rod from them and thats when Raphael told me they would only do it if I purchased it there.
Thanks again for the info.

Well, I will no longer buy any Loomis Rods. Did and expedite from Sportsmans, 2nd day of use and it broke. Had to pay another 50.00 which is a bunch of bull.

I understand Bass Pro not wanting to do it. But how can a small tackle shop not help out Customers that are willing to spend Money with them. You know their gonna get theirs when they send it in. I just cant figure that out. I guess they just dont need the Business. Why should SWP be the saving grace for bad customer service from the bigger companies? They make no money off a deal like that so why should they support you buying a rod from BassPro or Academy and then returning it for you when those companies wont? When they "turn down" your business, they are trying to tell you "Hey, if you had bought it from me, you could expect the great customer service that we give, but since you bought it elsewhere, by me returning it I am telling you to continue shopping with BassPro and not with me, but when you have problems with the bad customer service at BPS, bring your problems to me". SWP is just about the only place I buy gear at. In fact, I just returned a Falcon Cara that broke this weekend, I bought it Friday and it broke Saturday at Fork. Took it in, Raphael gave me a brand new one off the rack. I paid $10 to have them mail it back and get a replacement. When you use those bigger companies, expect to get screwed on the cost and then screwed on the service. But certainly dont expect a smaller store to make up for your mistake of taking your business to their competition.

make no money? they charge the consumer the $50 expediter fee, then hand a rod to them.. NOW the business sends the rod in the slow way, and VOILA! $30 profit !
I appluad them for thier simple economics!

I've never paid the $50 fee at SWP, $10 every time.
