there was a guide on baffin bay that forced me to use a whippy lite rod. he tied on a top dog for me to walk the dog with. i never could get used to the lite action.
gimme something with a back bone sting to it. and i like 15 lb test.

I like a medium action rod. Still light enough to feel the fish and some backbone when you hang a big fish. Same as Parker, I like to use 15 or 17 lb. test.

Medium action rods are fine..
Now I fish with mainly (L) rods for topwater and I have moved dowm from 15# Ande to 10# pound depending on where I am hunting reds.
The fights are that much more fun with (L) tackle. Still if you want to wench your fish in then 15# mono or braid, with a Falcon Redfish Special would be my first choice.
