Just wanted to hear some opinions from those that already own one or the other, or have owned both brands before. What are some Pros and Cons of each, how do they handle rough water, etc. Info. on the newer models would be appreciated, such as I class or Z21. Thanks.

That is a tough decision! I have been in both and liked both. I have been in the Z series more often and an i-class once. I have been in both in rough conditions on Texoma. Both did a great job with the edge going to the i-class in rough water handling. Both fished very well!

I owned 2 Skeeters before I bought my first Ranger (Back in 1987) and am still driving Rangers. That said, you will never hear me say anything negative about a Skeeter, I'm just more into comfort that speed.

I like my Ranger. I like Skeeter. I liked the layout of my Ranger over the layout of the Skeeter I looked at. I liked the speed of the Skeeter I looked at. I chose layout over speed.
IMO. Decide what size lake and limitations of weather you will fish and choose the size boat you will need. Choose the boat you feel fits your needs. All of the bass boats are quality rigs and the dealer will quite often differentiate the ownership experience. Choose the dealer as carefully as you do your boat.

Make sure You pick one with a descent Mechanic because somethings gonna break and when it does, you really dont want to wait three weeks to get it back because of a slow, burnout, horrible Mechanic that cant fix anything or a slow service Mgr that dont know "Come here from sick him"

I own a Ranger 520VX Commanche and it is a great boat. It is a great boat with a comfortable ride and with the 225 Optimax can run at about 72. I have been fishing out of my TFF Matchplay team partners Skeeter all year and have really enjoyed it and grown to really like his boat a lot. I have also owned Bass Cats and a Bullet in the past and they were great boats. I have seen that pretty much all of the boats now days are built really well but each is a little different. It takes some time to really decide on some of the details. I have owned single and dual console boats. I have had hand throttles and foot throtles. I have had Motorguide and Minn Kota trolling motors. I have used different brand batteries. There are a lot of different options but I will say that even though a lot of my buddies like a smaller boat length because of their fishing style I have decided that I can tell a real difference in the ride of a boat in regards to it's total length so I advise to get the longest boat that you feel comfortable with.

Get a skeeter. Ranger is just after your money. That has been my experience anyways. As soon as I can afford to get a new boat I'm getting a skeeter or a basscat!

Ranger has a rougher ride, but fish real well and the resale is great.Skeeter is faster, better ride. Both are good rigs. The new Ranger 520Z is coming out and should be a great boat.Like everyone has said most all the boats now are good ,just depends on your personal likes and dislikes.I prefer Champion , but i am spoiled by the smooth ride. Lack of high top in doesn't interest me.I can run low 70's.

Quality and Ranger should not be used in the same sentence, period.
They are the most over hyped bathtub on the market, I bought into it three years ago. Coming out of a Champion and into a Ranger was I brain dead. The boat started coming apart after a month of ownership, and Ranger did little to help me. Most have read my posts on this board so I will not go into my issues. PM if you wish and I will tell you my horror story.
The ride of the I class boats is much different than other boats, they have the felling of mashing the waves. They are heavy but should out perform the Rangers, and as a fishing platform they are very stable possible better than the Ranger. My Ranger, my partners 522, and the three I class boats I have been in all had a tendency to slide in a medium to hard corner.
Remember both boat lines are production line boats, so your consistency of manufacturing might vary day to day. Ask your local glass shops about the boats and ask the service managers at local dealers about recent returns for warranty work.
Thanks to John175 insistence Rockwall Marine allowed me to order a new BassCat Pantera 2, I looked at Skeeters also, but decided on the Cat. I liked the steep entry of the hull for rough water (similar to Champion), and then a quick transition into a performance pad. As BassCat says it is a total performance boat. Spent last Friday going thru the break in period, and really enjoyed the fishability of the boat.

I wish I had to make one of these decisions. The day I do make that desicion, it will be either a Skeeter or a BassCat. Until then my aluminum G3 will work just fine
