By far for me: McBee's in Jourdanton and Pleasnton. The owners of that atrocity should be locked up. This place is a true embarassment to Texas BBQ. I thought thats how they BBQed in Boston or Minnesota.
Another that is hardly better than McBee's is Lone Star in McAllen.
Let's say you?

A little stand near Lake Travis and Spicewood, had an item called gorilla ribs. I think they wer beef but not sure. One rib covered the whole plate. Foulest tasting, raw piece of meat I ever had in my life. Even the ice tea was rancid. Asked the guy aboutt he tea. Said he made it the night before and left it out in an aluminum pitcher. I think he made it with the dish water. That was years ago and the place is probably burned down long ago by the customers.

One more place in Alabama called the Friend of Man Bar B Que. The name should have been a clue. It was a restaurant near a truck stop. I asked for a plate of pork ribs. They didnt fix ribs. I asked for some chopped brisquet. Waitress didn't know what brisket was. I asked what did they have and how did they fix it. The bought a ham and a pot roast, chopped the meat up and put it in slow cookers with BBQ sauce. No pit anywhere in the place.

One more:On I 95 in South Carolina just past the Georgia line saw a sign advertising BBQ Special on the Buffet at the Truck Stop. So I stopped. Shredded beef again; just boiled and shredded as far as I could determine and placed in a pan on the buffet line. Well Dang. I got some of it on my plate and went looking for the BBQ sauce. All I found was some stuff in a vinegar bottle. Kinda green looking [censored]. That was the BBQ sauce. Some kind of oily vinegar based hot sauce. God Awful. smelly, foul tasting................yuck

Sonny Bryans- How do they stay in business? Davilas in Seguin- The service was as cold as the food Blanco BBQ-- I should have known when I walked in and saw philly cheesesteak on the menu. The guy running the place was pure Yankee and was tweaking his arse off. Gave me some sticks of charcoal, was supposed to be ribs. This was about 10 years ago, maybe things are better now. Luling City Market- Legendary ribs? Not on my first(and last visit) All the meat was cooked off the bone. Ate a whole rack and was still hungry. Rude service. The other BBQ place in Luling is much better.

I have eaten many times at the Sonny Bryans on Inwood and would rate it very high on my list. I lived in Memphis for several years and found Memphis BBQ in general was overrated, especially The Rondevous.

I've been to the Sonny Bryans on Inwood 3 times and it was bad all three times. Maybe its just bad timing. It smelled great. I hear that Mike Anderson's just down the road from there on Harry Hines is good, I'll have to try that. I eat at a BBQ place in Terrell quite a bit. I've had real bad food there about 5 times, but thats over a 20 year period and I've probably eaten there 300 times. Sonny Bryan's was 3 out of 3. I think someone else posted a bad review of them on here, but I don't know if it was the Inwood location. I apologise if I have offended anyone, I just gave an honest answer to the post based on my personal experiences.

Place called the "Rib Crib" in Tulsa OK. They really don't have any good BBQ up there.

I agree on the Sonny Bryans opinions. It's terrible. They think is so clever to have everyone sit in those old rickety school desks. What a joke. $5 for a chopped beef. Screw that place.
what we need is another Joseph McCarthy

Underwoods in Brownwood or any other place for that matter under the same banner and ownership. Not bad rolls or fried chicken but the worst excuse for something they call barbecue.
At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

Well, it wasn't actually a bbq place but I made the mistake of ordering the "slow smoked baby back ribs" at a restaurant one evening while on a business trip in Hagerstown, MD. Not seeing a big pit outside or any smoke rolling out of there should have been my first clue but I guess I was just tired. All they did was throw a rack of ribs in boiling water till they were about to fall off the bone, toss them on a hot grill and slathered them in bbq sauce. Pretty bland and no smoke flavor whatsoever. It was difficult to keep a straight face when the waitress kept asking me how the ribs were. I left over half the rack on the plate, which never happens at home, and opted for the salad bar.. Never again will I eat bbq north of the Mason-Dixon line..
