coffee mugs, my wife washed my lucky coffee mug one time and i have never washed it...until then, and i was wandering, why not wash it? what is the reason? i believe that if i drink out of a dirty one i have a better chance for a bigger bass, which i know is a dirty ugly lie, but he seriously why dont you wash yours?

i guess i am a really nasty person then, cuz i do not let soap touch my mug, maybe a quick rinse, but never with soap and never with a rag.

I rinse mine out, and use it every day. I've carried the same Nissan coffee mug for over 3 years now. Every now and then I will run it through the dishwasher just to give it a good cleaning.

ok washing your coffee mug is a big deal to people! wow ! I truly do not wash mine out. I just think that it gives just a little bit of flavor that a person who drinks 12-15 cups of coffee a day desires. Also i read somwhere that there are enzimes in coffee residue that accually kill bacteria. so in essence, a dirty(coffee staind..build up) cup is accually bacterially cleaner! By the way i am a medic...hospital corpsman in the clinic at ingleside naval base, and i never get sick, so it cant be that bad.

ooookaayyy...

I knew a guy in the Army once who was the same way. He too was quite proud of his NASTY coffee mug. Actually, I'm alot like North Texas Fiberglass - I merely rinse instead of washing with soap.

Funny thing though, unbeknownst to me, the other day my wife washed it in soap "really good for me". I said, "Sweetie, my mug smells funny" She said, "yea, I washed it!" Not cool! I think I am starting to see what you mean after all. OMG! lol!!!

Well, it was old Navy tradition in our CPO mess. The better the stain, I guess the more salt you had in your veins.

I would like some of that info on enzymes that "supposedly" kill bacteria.

I too learned that inmy time contracting to the navy as a kid, I don't wash mine either. Rinse good, maybe rub with fingers.. But I tend to break or lose mine a lot so the stains never get that good.

Below are pics of my 20 year old Navy mug from my time aboard USS Dale CG19. Most of the Chiefs on my ship believed it was bad luck to wash thier mugs. I didn't subscribe to such nonsense. But to each his own...
