I represent The Ozone Company and we are introducing a new livewell to the market that we believe will revolutionize the sport. This livewell system will introduce ozone into livewell. Ozone is three molecules of oxygen and when it converts back to O2 it becomes the purest form of oxygen known to man. This system will remove and bacteria, fungi, and nitrates from the water. It has the capability to remove carbon dioxide and even ammonia which are highly toxic. It will maintain adequate level of dissolved oxygen. It also has two separate diffusers; one for the baitwell and one for the livewell. It is non-flammable and requires virtually no maintenance. Check out our website for more information: www.ozonelivewells.com or call 1-888-OZONE-30. Call and ask for Josh Ladd to inquire about special introductory pricing. We are very excited about this product and how it will change the sport.

this in my opinion...is two much money for two little a product. Ya someone who has money to throw at there boat, which i personally don't, and is that set on the fact that they need thier fish in the best health of there lives, then hey why not. But there are two many anglers out there that fish for the shear enjoyment of fishing. And then there are to many that fish to win money and come out on top. at the end of the day, how many tournaments would you have to fish to pay for this thing? I am not the type of person that wants to drop 2 grand on a live well if mine works great! my fish stay alive all day long, and swim free to live as free fish at the end of the day. what is a fish going to benefitt from being in the perfect enviroment for 8-12hrs and thrown right back into there old enviroment? i dont think that this is an idea that will make its way on to the market anytime soon. but maybe thats just me.
Romo please if you read this, can you step it up? My cowboys need another title. Oh and Kenseth if you happen to read this, open a can of man and start winning some races...if you need to borrow a can of man I got extra! That will be all.

"Ozone is the clean, fresh scent noticed after a rainstorm"
The above is your first bullet under the tab "science behind O3". It is my understand the refreshing 'scent' and the reason we feel reinvigorated (like when near a waterfall) is due to the negative ions (which are good for us) created by the rushing water or rainfall, etc., not ozone.
Since when is ozone good for you? Ozone alerts are announced all the time for the well-being of asthma victims.
Can you elaborate and educate me if I've mis-spoke? I'm just trying to gain a better understanding. Thanks.
Jimmy

I've got a 30 year old livewell system with no recirc pumps and have never lost fish due to an inadequate livewell. If it aint broke dont fix it.

UJC, and others OZONE does not kill Ich when in the cyst stage. I prefer UV sterilization to ozone for several reasons. Also, you are correct that ozone is NOT good for you and is HIGHLY unstable. It also converts sodium chloride to chlorine, which can KILL your fish if used in either brackish, or bodies of water with high saline levels. Good ole 3% Hydrogen Peroxide will get the job done, for around 50 cents! I think that I have seen it all now! What we really need are chillers or cooling systems for livewells not expensive gimics!

I have been using Hydrogen peroxide that is pumped in on a timed and metered basis. I have a cut off switch for cooler water temps. This is something I have been doing for quite sometime.

Found this on Wikipedia.
Ozone is also widely used in treatment of water in aquaria and fish ponds. Its use can minimize bacterial growth control parasites and removes or reduces "yellowing" of the water. As the ozone rapidly decomposes, at correctly controlled levels the application has no effect on the fish[citation needed].

does it work? who cares what good does it do to the fish???? unless the fish is living in the "clean" water, what is the point? it only gives the fish a few hours of perfection, then it goes back to normal. so i really dont see the point in tempting the fish like this. chad

i'm intrigued by this product and it seems like it has many applications. zone is used in seafood aquariums holding the "fresh" fish heavily in china. ozone does have a very short life expectancy and is so quickly reconverted to pure oxygen in water that it has no effect but sanitizing the water. i do know every bottled water we drink is ozonated, dallas and los angeles have ozone-treated municipal water plants, and all olympic pools and white house pools are treated with ozone so it must be safe in water.

The most common applications for Ozone is in water treatment and food packaging to extend shelf live (especially with highly perishable items). In aquariums it is used in closed loop systems with redox, and it is commonly used in conjunction with UV for better disinfection. When I maintained seahorse aquariums for breeding, I used UV for disinfection. Ozone has definate drawbacks, pure ozone can be toxic to fish, eggs and aquatic life. It is VERY hard to measure in water, so that can be dangerous. Ozone is very effective in the destruction of viruses and other pathogens, but it is NOT A MAGIC BULLET and does not kill everything when used properly. Actually, hydrogen peroxide is MORE EFFECTIVE and safe for disinfecting eggs, etc. As a microbiologist, I fail to see real benefits for the use of ozone in a livewell setting where the fish are held for 6 to 8 hours MAX, other than water purification which really is not necessary. Ozone also does NOTHING to regulate biochemical processes in the fish. 3% hydrogen peroxide is MORE effective in a livewell application, is CHEAP and safe. Ozone has a very NARROW range of effective disinfection, and can't destroy certain stages of pathogens without killing the fish. While it commonly used in public and private hatcheries, other systems and chemical theraputics are also used in conjunction with ozone for the control and spread of disease. Also, I did not find the website very informative on their system and FILLED with either false or misleading information.

Seems ya'll are beating the ozone up. I agree they need to do more explaination, since there are different types of "Ozone". I have an ozone generator on my Hot tub and don't need to add chemicals to keep the water clean. Spose I could keep my fish in there if I turned down the temp.
