Can't be much current help but I fished that lake for years from a Bass Buster before it was taken private by Centennial Homes. I caught lots of nice bass but did not try for Crappie. Back then I saw lots of people catching them but they were really small.

I had some good days bass fishing there but that was the early 80's so I probably would not even recognize it anymore...

The crappie bite stays steady now through the fall, especially for numbers. I catch my best ones by far in the winter.

When I was a kid we tore up the crappie in Vilbig lake. Of course that was 40 years ago. LOL

Great for crappie if you know where the "holes" are. But since it is a private lake you have to know someone that lives on it to have access.
I lived on the lake from 1989-2002 and some years were better than others for crappie. A few 100 fish plus days!

Tips: Deep structure on the South-side in the winter and the bite is usually better in the evening from around 5:30 pm till dark.

Summer: Drifting minnows or trolling roadrunners on the southside of the penisula or focus on sharp drop offs in 10 -14 ft of water.

Don't let Bwood's status of "Greenhorn" fool you - he is the best on crappie & LMB on Vilbig! He knows that lake like the back of his hand! Plenty of "Hidden Spots" out there!

Appreciate the kind words cat, but you know I have much respect for your history here too.

Cats was a killer for 13 years here...You and your dad were the crappie/cat untouchables for years....thankfully, you've left us some wonderful brushpiles that still hold' em. Great tips given as usual.

Interested in any Lewisville bass tournaments???
