It's been a long time since I went fishing, and I'd like to get back into it. Can anyone give me some advice on bank fishing around the Round Rock/Austin area? I've checked out the small lake at Old Settlers Park, but I don't know much about it. Thanks in advance.

Welcom to the TFF. I have heard of some nice bass being caught at Old Settlers Pond. Here is a site that has some maps of the local lakes. Round Rock is at the bottom. http://www.austinkayakfishing.com/Maps.html

Lake Granger has Fox park...good fishing dock for crappie.
I don't know if it's open or not...you can find out on the corp of engineer site.

The old settlers park lake is OK from the bank, but most of is fairly shallow within casting distance. This time of year should be OK if the grass is good. Don't know how you are about wade fishing, but we used to fish brushy creek between the bridges along hairy man road. We'd usually start at the high bridge down in the trees, fish that hole just downstream, and then wade all the way upstream to the bridge by the park. There are several good holes along the way and we usually managed a few good ones.
